The spotlight may shine brightly on Angelina Jolie, but her daughter Shiloh wants no part of it. Unlike many children of Hollywood celebrities who step into the industry, she actively avoids the glitz and glamour that come with it.
During a recent appearance at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival, Jolie shared insights into her children’s preference for privacy. She emphasized that none of them are eager to follow her career path, with Shiloh being particularly averse to the attention. “They really don’t like any of the celebrity aspects of it, and Shiloh especially hates it,” she stated. “It’s not something normal. It’s actually quite ridiculous.”
A Family That Values Creativity, Not the Spotlight

Jolie and her former husband share six children: Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, and twins Knox and Vivienne. Despite growing up in an environment deeply connected to Hollywood, none of them have expressed a desire to pursue acting.
Jolie clarified that their preference for staying out of the limelight was not something she imposed. “That’s entirely their decision. I’ve always encouraged them to explore creativity because the world of film is a wonderful space for expression and artistry, but they just aren’t interested.”
While none of the children seem inclined to step in front of the camera, they do enjoy other artistic pursuits. “Some of them dance, some paint, and some have a passion for theater, but there’s no overwhelming urge to be on screen.”
Supporting From Behind the Scenes
Although they prefer to remain away from the public eye, some of Jolie’s children have still contributed to the industry—just in a different capacity. Her two eldest sons, Maddox and Pax, have worked behind the scenes on her projects. They served as assistant directors for her latest film, "Maria," and Pax even took on additional photography responsibilities for the production.
Vivienne also collaborated with her mother on the Broadway production of "The Outsiders," demonstrating an interest in theater without stepping directly into the spotlight. Jolie believes in the value of hands-on experience, saying, “It’s important to start from the ground up. They’ve taken on tasks like running errands and assisting wherever needed, which is the best way to truly understand filmmaking.”

A Strong Preference for Privacy
Jolie has openly discussed her children's desire to maintain a low profile. In October 2024, she shared that they are naturally shy and reserved. “They prefer to keep their lives private,” she said at the time. Unlike many Hollywood offspring who seek the spotlight, her children actively avoid public attention.
Her perspective on fame has likely shaped their views. She has often stated that while she loves acting, she could do without the relentless scrutiny. Her children seem to share this mindset, choosing to pursue their own paths without the weight of public exposure.
While many expect celebrity children to embrace Hollywood, Jolie’s family shows that fame isn’t a given. For Shiloh and her siblings, privacy and creative expression take priority over the allure of stardom.
